Scandria Alliance newsletter October 2024

Keeping on track towards climate-smart multimodal transport connectivity

Following the European elections in June, it’s time to continue the work towards a sustainable and resilient European transport network.

In July 2024, the revised TEN-T Regulation entered into force. To unleash its full potential for smart and green transport at urban, regional and cross-border levels, it will be crucial to closely involve regions and cities in its implementation.
With Pat Cox re-appointed as European Coordinator for the Scandinavian-Mediterranean (ScanMed) Transport Corridor, a reliable, influential and experienced facilitator will have the opportunity to continue his integrative approach to realise the ScanMed Corridor. Scandria®Alliance members congratulate Mr Pat Cox and look forward to continuing the fruitful cooperation with him and his team.
The mission letter to Commissioner-Designate for Sustainable Transport and Tourism, Apostolos Tzitzikostas mandates the prospective future transport commissioner to “make European transport more competitive, more sustainable and more resistant”. Some of the key initiatives mentioned in the mission letter are very close to topics addressed by the Scandria®Alliance: the realisation of TEN-T, a plan for an ambitious European high-speed rail network and enhanced efforts to decarbonise and electrify transport.
The Scandria®Alliance looks forward to continuing the constructive dialogue between all policy levels in order to keep on track for a sustainable corridor development.

Hydrogen will play an important role in decarbonising heavy-duty transport

During our Scandria Alliance Talk on 30 August 2024, we explored drivers and barriers for the use of hydrogen in the transition to a sustainable heavy-duty transport. The Scandria Alliance asked the three speakers of the webinar about their expectations concerning the future use of hydrogen as a fuel for heavy duty vehicles.

Alliance members conclude bilateral cooperation agreements

Brandenburg and Uusimaa as well as Berlin and Hamburg will deepen their cooperation in transport, spatial development and other strategic fields.

Meet us at the EUSBSR Annual Forum 2024!

Alliance members set spotlight on sustainable and resilient transport systems during this year’s main gathering for collaboration in the Baltic Sea region.
