Regional Mayor Tuija Telén

“We have to accelerate decarbonization and ensure the resilience of the transport infrastructure”

Tuija Telén, Regional Mayor of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region in Finland, followed her predecessor Ossi Savolainen as vice chair of the Scandria®Alliance in November last year.

Tuija Telén was elected Regional Mayor of the Helsinki-Uusimaa Region in 2023, where she started her new position in November. Following her predecessor, Ossi Savolainen, she inherited the position as vice chair of the Scandria®Alliance.

Having both hands on the ground, Tuija Telén is dedicated to collaboration – within the region and beyond.

In her statement, she emphasises the importance of collaboration to strengthen the resilience and decarbonisation of the transport system in Helsinki-Uusimaa. Due to recent geostrategic developments, European transport corridors gained importance for security of supply.

This holds particularly true for a region that is at the crossroads of two European Transport Corridors: the Scandinavian-Mediterranean and the North Sea-Baltic and includes the Helsinki urban node.
