General Assembly elects new chairs and welcomes new members

On 25 June 2025, the General Assembly of the Scandria Alliance met in the representation of Brandenburg to the EU.

The seven regions represented in the General Assembly adopted an internal strategy paper aiming at further strengthening the Alliance as a joint voice of cities and regions along the Scandria Corridor to connect regions, their communities and economies through clean, smart and resilient transportation.

New chair and vice chairs

The General Assembly also elected regional councillor Åsa Ågren Wikström from Region Västerbotten (Sweden) as its new chair.  Åsa represents our full member Kvarken Council EGTC. Tuija Telén, Regional Mayor of Helsinki-Uusimaa (Finland) as well as Detlef Tabbert, Minister of Infrastructure and Federal State Planning of Brandenburg (Germany) were elected as vice chairs.

Åsa Ågren Wikström sees the need to work towards enhanced European connectivity for economic development and resilience as her chairmanship’s main priority. She declared her full commitment to join interest of all regions along the Scandria Corridor to promote infrastructure planning and to strengthen the visibility of the Scandria Alliance at European and national levels.

New members and observers

The General Assembly admitted the Regional Council of Southwest Finland as a new full member and the Chamber of Commerce of Bolzano as a new associated member. Today, the Alliance has seven full and eight associated members.

The Finnish logistics network Limowa joined the Scandria Alliance as an observer.

Furthermore, the General Assembly unanimously adopted a joint declaration on the future of transport and infrastructure funding and financing. This declaration was presented and discussed in a high-level policy exchange, following the internal meeting of the General Assembly.
