Key decision-makers to discuss transport links in the Nordics in Oslo

How can we develop an efficient, well-functioning and safe transport system between the Nordic countries? And how should the Nordic region connect more closely with the continent in the years to come? These are some of the topics to be addressed when the Scandria Alliance and Eastern Norway County Network host this year’s transport conference in Oslo on 18 May. The conference brings together decision-makers and experts to discuss the future of mobility and cross-border infrastructure.

Two prominent figures in European and Norwegian transport policy will deliver keynote speeches. Pat Cox, European coordinator for the TEN-T Scan-Med corridor at the European Commission, will provide a European perspective on how infrastructure across the Nordic region should be further developed. Minister of Transport Jon-Ivar Nygård will highlight Norway’s priorities and challenges going forward.

The concluding political debate will feature Anne Strømøy, County Mayor of Vestfold, and Anette Solli, Chair of the Akershus County Council, alongside Anjes Tjarks, Hamburg’s Minister for Transport and Mobility Transition, among others. His experiences from one of Europe’s most mobility-oriented cities brings a valuable perspective to the conference.

Transport networks in transition

The conference emphasises how cooperation across countries and sectors can strengthen the most crucial transport corridors in the Nordic region. Participants will gain insight into political assessments and technical analyses that influence the development of infrastructure in the region.

“The European transport network is changing, whilst the geopolitical situation is extremely challenging. How Norway, Sweden, Denmark and Finland can be better connected to Germany and the rest of Central Europe will influence mobility, supply chains and the climate transition in the years to come. We therefore look forward to bringing together key decision-makers at the transport conference in Oslo”, says Jon Petter Arntzen, Head of the Secretariat at Eastern Norway County Network.
